Some links on Mariners Online may be affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase or enroll in a course, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Those commissions help keep the site free for mariners. Pages that contain affiliate links say so near the top, before the first link.
Our standards
- We recommend books, gear, study materials, and training providers because we believe they are useful to mariners — not because of a commission.
- A commission never changes how we describe Coast Guard requirements. Regulatory information is written to be accurate whether or not a product is linked.
- We do not accept payment for favorable reviews. Any sponsored content will be clearly labeled “Sponsored.”
- Prices, availability, and course approvals are set by the seller or school and may change after we publish.
Programs we participate in
We will list each affiliate program here as we join it, along with any disclosure wording that program requires.
Our own products
Mariners Online is operated by Captain Mike under the name Compass Courses. When we link to our own study guides, courses, or services, we have a financial interest in them even though those are not affiliate links.
